Overview of Kinder Haus

Children arrive each day to a beautifully prepared environment. Living plants and famous works of art add dignity and charm to the “Children’s House”.

Natural light from the windows, child-size furniture, and readily available materials create a truly inviting classroom.

Each student has the liberty to choose which area and which activity he or she would like to explore.

Originator of the “hands-on” approach to early education, Dr. Montessori observed that children learn best from interactive, concrete experiences.

Hands-on activities are abundant and are used to teach everything from math and language to geography and history.

The variety of materials allow each child to learn at their own pace and at their own level. A custom designed curriculum for each individual! Some children advance quickly while others gain confidence and take their time developing particular skills. Most children will continue working repetitiously with something until they master the task or an “inner-need” has been met. Modern research calls the inner-need “windows of opportunity for learning.”

Ages are approximate as children are placed according to their development.

Toddler - Ages 1 & 2
Pre-School - Ages 2, 3, & 4
PreK and Kindergarten - Ages 2 - 6

Philosophy

Kinder Haus’s philosophy is based on the method of education developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. Dr. Montessori began her life’s work of studying children and how they learn in the early 1900’s. Through years of research, she invented concrete learning materials to assist children along their normal path of development. We believe that the Montessori method of learning:

• Fosters a child’s natural love of learning
• Lays a solid foundation for all future academics
